The Hochschule Niederrhein welcomes 2760 new students for the winter semester 2025/26

With the start of the winter semester 2025/2026, 2760 new students will begin their studies at The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR). After an extensive induction week, during which the first-semester students were able to get to know their fellow students, the locations in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach and the university's central facilities, the regular study programme is now starting.

"We are delighted to welcome so many new students to our university," says University President Dr Thomas Grünewald. "With us, they not only acquire academic know-how, but also practical orientation for their professional future - in line with our mission statement 'Your way'."

Of the new students, 2431 have opted for a Bachelor's degree programme. 329 students are starting a Master's degree programme, although this number may increase slightly due to late registrations in the coming weeks. Overall, the university is thus at the same level as in the past three years. In view of the nationwide decline in demand for study programmes, this stability is a pleasing sign.

The first-year students are spread across more than 50 Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. Demand is particularly strong in the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, which welcomed more new students than ever before with over 1,000 first-year students. The Business Administration, Business Information Systems and Cyber Security Management degree programmes in particular are recording high enrolment figures.

Professor Dr Dirk Braun, Vice-Dean for Structure and Strategy in the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, emphasises: "Our programmes are designed to provide the best possible support for our students' personal development and individual life situations. With our new concept, we are responding to the challenges of a changing learning and working world and preparing our students specifically for the requirements of companies in the region."

The Digital Forensics (Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science), Communication Design (Faculty of Design), Health Care Management and Applied Psychology (both Faculty of Health Care) degree programmes are also still in demand among young people.
