Success without role models - Professor Bilal Gökce shows new paths for non-academic children

The A.U.G.E. Institute of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and the Niederrheinische Islam Akademie e.V. invite you to a lecture by Professor Dr Bilal Gökce on Wednesday, 28 May 2025. Because great professional dreams can also be achieved without academic role models. Entitled "Reaching the top without role models - how non-academic children realise their dreams", the lecture is dedicated to the challenges and opportunities faced by young people whose careers did not begin in an academic environment.

Gökce, the son of Turkish migrant workers, was born in Krefeld. Today he is a physicist and professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Wuppertal. His lecture is aimed at young people, parents, teachers and anyone interested in and committed to equal opportunities and educational equality. His lecture will address key questions: How do you find your own path when there are no obvious role models? What strategies make it possible to overcome obstacles and realise your dreams? Using examples from his own life, he shows how such paths are possible - honest, motivating and approachable.

This event is particularly suitable for all those who believe that success is not tied to one's background or academic environment. It is an invitation to think outside the box and discover the many different paths to personal and professional success. Registration is requested.
