Choose a suitable professor from the department who will supervise you during the project. This professor will assess the suitability of the internship position. Apply for the internship semester by completing the relevant application form (the link can be found in the download area on the right under "Forms and information") with your details and sending it to the Examinations Office. Students will ONLY be admitted to the internship semester upon application if they have earned at least 89 credit points.

• Create a report on the internship semester. The guideline for the length of the report is 20 pages . Questions regarding content and form must be clarified with your supervisor, but are generally based on the formal requirements for final theses. Please send the report together with a certificate to the supervisor shortly after the end of the internship semester.
• 30 credit points are recognised for the successful completion of the internship semester. In the curriculum of the Bachelor's degree programmes, the internship semester is scheduled for the sixth semester, but it can also be completed in a different semester. Please note the semester and examination periods when selecting the internship period. There may be overlaps here.

Application for ERASMUS+ funding is only possible via our Mobility Online Tool.

For internships within the EU, you can apply for funding via the ERASMUS+ Student Mobility Internship programme. Outside the EU, you can apply for the PROMOS funding programme. Please note the application deadlines. You can also find more information on this on the pages of the International Office (IO).

Language skills of at least level B2 in the working language are required for a stay abroad; this can also be proven in the Abitur certificate. Please also find out about possible requirements or prerequisites of the internship company. For language certificates, please contact the Language Centre of the Hochschule Niederrhein.

Before the stay:

• Fulfilled the admission requirements and found the desired practical placement
• Registration for the internship semester at the faculty
• Supervisor signs "Application for admission to the internship semester" and receives the completed internship contract from the student
• Signed application for admission to the internship semester and completed internship contract forwarded to the Examination Office
• Examination office decides on admission

After the stay

• Preparation of a 20-page report and submission to supervisor
• Internship certificate is submitted to supervisor
• Supervisor forwards the certificate and "Belegbogen zum Praxissemester" to the Examination Office
• Examination office registers the internship semester
